The Company Provides an Update on Wyoming Activities to Date

Uranium Energy Corp (OTCBB:URME - News; FWB:U6Z)(BERLIN:U6Z - News) is pleased to announce the acquisition of additional Wyoming State uranium leases in Niobrara County.

The Company has completed leasing of 1,275 acres in Niobrara County, Wyoming from the State of Wyoming. This acquisition was a result of data generated from Uranium Energy Corp’s recent Brenniman Database acquisition. The Company’s review of Brenniman historical data in the lease area showed eleven (11) uranium exploration holes were drilled during 1975-76 for a total of 9,300 feet. Results of drilling indicated strong alteration in the Lakota formation of the Inyan Kara Group and the potential for uranium mineralization. Additionally, a survey of oil and gas wells in the adjacent area, with gamma logs to near surface, showed significant gamma anomalies in API units. Read more » »

Hours of digging at a hot spot off Underwood Road on Friday showed no evidence of a mine fire.

Workers from the federal Office of Surface Mining rooted through steaming dirt, stumps and mine refuse, but the heated vapor and material appeared to be related to composting, not a fire, said OSM mining engineer David Philbin. Despite his conclusion, OSM officials will continue to monitor the site, which had a previous mine fire.

Seeking a new seal: Coal industry zeros in on way to boost safety

The coal mining industry has high hopes for a new material that may harden underground seals that don’t meet federal strength standards.

Regulators say as many as 13,000 foam block seals in mines across the country don’t meet the new strength requirement the Mine Safety and Health Administration set in July. MSHA upped the strength requirement after methane gas explosions behind seals killed 17 miners in separate accidents in West Virginia and Kentucky this year.
