Parker Drilling Receives Contracts for Six of Its Land Rings From International Customers

Parker Drilling Co., provides drilling and related services to the oil and gas industry, said Tuesday it received contracts for six of its land rigs from international customers.

Financial terms of the contracts were not disclosed. All the contracts span three years and five of the six rigs contracted are currently inactive.

PPL Montana Signs Long-Term Contract for Colstrip Plant Coal Supply

To provide continuing fuel supply stability for Units 1 and 2 at the Colstrip power plant, co-owners PPL Montana and Puget Sound Energy have signed a long-term agreement with Western Energy Company, a subsidiary of Westmoreland Coal Company, for coal supply from the Rosebud Mine near Colstrip.

“We are pleased to have reached this agreement with WECO,” said Brad Spencer, vice president and chief operating officer for PPL Montana, the plant operator. “We are committed to keeping the Colstrip plant a vital part of our power supply portfolio and a vital part of the Montana economy. Merrill Lynch Sees Coal Prices Poised to Strengthen, China a Major Factor

A trade standoff between China and Japan over coal supply could bring stronger coal prices, a Merrill Lynch analyst said Monday.

Japan needs Chinese coal, but so does China. Currently, Chinese consumers are willing to pay more. The country’s fast-growing, energy-hungry economy has created a strong market for coal, which is used fuel power plants and industry.

Russians find violations at coal mine

Russian regulators have found serious safety violations at a Siberian coal mine where a methane gas explosion last killed more than 100 miners last week, authorities said Monday.

A preliminary inquiry found the Ulyanovskaya mine, operated by subsidiary of steel and mining giant Evraz SA, had problems with equipment safety rules, federal industrial watchdog Rostekhnadzor said in a statement. It did not give further details.

Phillips Petroleum Company Museum staff announced

ConocoPhillips officials announced today the hiring of three staff members to manage the Phillips Petroleum Company Museum scheduled to open in May.

Thad Satterfield, formerly CEO and executive director of the Bartlesville Regional United Way, has been named marketing director and will provide direction and strategy for the Phillips Petroleum Company Museum in Bartlesville, as well as the new Conoco Museum in Ponca City. According to a news release issued by the company, Satterfield will report to Dan Gilliam, manager of Community Relations for ConocoPhillips, and will supervise an operations director and curator. Atlantic Petroleum Spuds Ettrick Development Well

Atlantic Petroleum says that the 20/2a-P1 Ettrick Development well has been spudded. The well is the first of a series of four development wells to be drilled back to back in 2007 on the Ettrick Field.

The well is being drilled by the Borgsten Dolphin semisub in 366 feet of water. The well is a high angle well, will intersect the Upper Jurassic Ettrick sandstone reservoir target and is expected to reach a total depth of approximately 12, 240 feet MD> The well will be suspended as producer prior to being tied back to the floating production storage and offloading vessel Aoka Mizu. Cygam Energy Inc. Announces Signing of Drilling Contract for the Posta Nuova Permit in Italy

Cygam Energy Inc. is pleased to announce that a contract was signed with Hydro Drilling International S.p.A. (Hydro Drilling) on March 23, 2007 to drill a 1000 meters well in the Posta Nuova permit in southern Italy.

Regulatory approval for all drilling operations has been received and construction of the surface lease has commenced. Cygam has already acquired long delivery items such as wellhead, casing and related equipment. Drilling is expected to start towards the end of April, after Hydro Drilling completes its contract obligations with another operator and mobilizes the drilling rig from a nearby location.
