ArcelorMittal is ready with the Detailed Project Report (DPR) to be submitted soon to the Orissa government for its proposed greenfield steel mill in Keonjhar district and will soon go for land acquisition, a top company official said here today.

“We have urged the state government to hold gram sabha meetings in order to ensure smooth land acquisition by the company”, ArcerlorMittal’s India greenfield project chief Sanak Mishra told reporters on the sideline of the 4th international iron and steel making conference here.

Stating that the company had already obtained railway transport clearance and contacted the National Highway Authority of India to ensure connectivity to its proposed project site, Mishra said ArcelorMittal’s corporate social responsibility (csr) activities were going on in villages.

The company was also holding assessment camp in the proposed project area to look after the needs of the people, he said.

On prospecting license and mining lease, Mishra said ArcelorMittal hoped the state government would expedite the company’s application for the raw material linkage.

He said the company had already received PL for its Jharkhand project.

Besides, the greenfield projects chief said ArcelorMittal had already got two thermal coal blocks for its requirement in the proposed 12mtpa steel projects each in Orissa and Jharkhand.
