New Mining Invesment in Virginia, Dominion Virginia Power Expand New Coal-fired Plant St. Paulus, Va.
June 28th, 2008Dominion Virginia Power, a coal mine exploration company, experiences constraint to build a new coal-fired plant in Southwest Virginia. Reason of rejection establishment of coal-fired plant because estimated this coal plant will defile area and will induce at global climate changed.
Some few days ago through hearing during two-day in Wise, the Air Pollution Control Board permits Dominion to build coal-fired plant with strength of 585 megawatt in area St. Paulus, Va.
Following is comment released by Southern Environmental Law Center, Cale Jaffe, after agreement permit Dominion Virginia Power to build coal-fired plant.
Cale Jaffe, from Southern Environmental Law Center, says
“I was unhappy that the permits did is limit note the plant’s emissions of carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas. Though a US. Supreme Court decision recently ordered that the Environmental Protection Agency treat carbon dioxide ace a pollutant, Virginia does is note regulate the ace gas such.”
“We’re still shying away from the obligation to address climate change,”.
Development of this coal plant would soon is done by entangling Virginia City Hybrid Energy Center, work is estimated to completed until 2012.
