Obtala Resources Reported Find More New Gold Mine Zone in Northern Tanzania
March 17th, 2009
AIM listed mining group Obtala Resources has identified a new gold zone following in-fill soil sampling over its Buckreef licence in Northern Tanzania within the Lake Victoria Goldfields.
The new zone km long gold-in-soil geochemical anomaly has been identified in a world class producing region, with gold in soil up to 704 parts per billion (equivalent to 0.704 g/t).
The Buckreef licence covers an area of 16.46 sq km and is located 120km southwest of Mwanza, Tanzania’s third largest city situated on the shores of Lake Victoria, and 4km west of the Buckreef Gold Mine, currently being evaluated by IAMGold.
Frank Scolaro, chairman of Obtala, said the results had resolved a considerably larger target than defined by the original sampling in 2008, and represented an exciting new zone of mineralisation that had not been previously tested or discovered by either trenching or drilling.
