Selling price of thermal coal and coking coal is expected to rise in the year 2011. Mining trade analyst, Warren Edney estimated sales price of thermal coal to reach $ 75 per metric ton in 2011, while coking coal will be sold at $ 150 in the same period, an estimated increase in sales of coking coal 15 percent more than before.

Annual coking coal contract prices fell 57 percent to about $ 129 per tonne this year as global demand fell. Power coal prices at Richards Bay, South Africa, a benchmark for Europe, has fallen 58 percent in the last 12 months at $ 60.80 per ton as companies cut output on the continent.

Thermal coal will account for 19 percent of all dry bulk commodities in the sea pulled this quarter, according to forecasts from Drewry Shipping Consultants Ltd. in London. Coking coal will make up 7.9 percent. As a commodity, just produce more iron ore seaborne trade.
