North Arrow Lithium Mining Drilling In North Carolina, U.S.
October 17th, 2009
North Arrow is a company focused on lithium mining exploration. The company is drilling in the area of lithium mining Carolina, United States. Lithium mining drilling project located in the Tin-Spodumene Belt of North Carolina. This region is the center of the lithium production.
The belt extends more than 60 km long and reaches a maximum width of about 1.6 km. Lithium historic mining in the belt began in the 1950s with production primarily from the two deposits: the Foote Mineral deposits, 1.6 km south of the city of Kings Mountain (now owned by Chemetall Foote Corporation) and FMC Lithium’s Hallman-Beam mine, which lies just to the north of Bessemer City. In 1982 the estimated ‘minable reserves’ for Foote Mineral deposits reported 29 million tons grading 1.5% Li2O with an additional inferred reserves 14 million tons grading 1.5% Li2O. The Hallman-Beam me is the same minable reserves estimated to contain 27.5 million tonnes grading 1.5% Li2O. These reserves historic in nature and not NI43-101 compliant. They are provided here in order to show the size and grade past producing mines in the Tin-Spodumene Belt.
North Carolina, North Arrow project has focused on lithium-Tin Belt region where the past Spodumene exploration and evaluation work completed by the Lithium Corporation of America (predecessor FMC Lithium) between 1950 and 1996. The Company has completed six agreements covering 367 hectares of the property and adjacent prospects have confirmed the presence of early widespread spodumene bearing pegmatites. Ten of the fourteen spaces to take samples from the area has returned 1.5% 4.4% Li2O into Li2O. History of lithium production in these areas, access to excellent transport, power infrastructure and proximity to the existing downstream plants producing lithium FMC Lithium and Chemetall Foote makes an ideal location to potentially determine the additional lithium resources in the American country.
