The European Commission on Thursday opened a formal investigation into the legality of state aid awarded by Poland to cast iron producer Odlewnia Zeliwa SREM.
Odlewnia Zeliwa makes cast iron primarily for the shipbuilding industry. It has about 1,450 employees.
