Opponents of a proposed uranium mine in Weld County say more than 5,700 people have signed a petition against the project.
Powertech Uranium Corp., based in Vancouver, British Columbia, has proposed a $20 million uranium mine on 5,760 acres of farmland. The company is working to obtain permits amid rising uranium prices.

A state judge denied a request by two environmental groups to temporarily stop test drilling for uranium in Fall River County.

Robin Davis enjoys her new home built on 80 acres and approximately six miles northwest of Nunn.
In February 2006, she and her husband, Jay, moved to rural Weld County with hopes of building a horse boarding facility, teaching riding lessons and conducting 4-H classes.
A year later, those dreams are about to end.

Powertech Uranium Corp. has received a state permit to drill 155 exploratory holes to look for uranium in the southwestern corner of South Dakota.
